The Central Park Family Diner

…or First & Central Family Diner?

We’re not sure on the name, but we do believe that they have fresh brewed coffee.

How we arrived at the decision to visit this diner is of little consequence, though what we experienced is of great value to you.

From all external perspectives, the diner is wanting. There is no website. The official name is elusive. There is a miniscule online footprint. The diner does not exist. If you are able to track it down (at the corner of Central Park and First Street), you will not be enamored by the decor (unless you’re a weirdo like Bo, who, as he ate his food, just kept shouting through the mastication, “Decor! Decor! Decor!”).

But that is where your concern ends. Once you sit down, it’s a different ball game. Consider, for example, the BINGO-type menu. Unlike anything you’ve seen before, yet strangely logical in the matrix layout:

Up until recently, the problem of organizing a menu has been unsolveable, but scientists observing how bacteria can solve the Travelling Salesman problem have lent insight into optimal menu organization.

Already you should be thinking to yourself, “Self, what type of magical diner is this?”

And the answer is: the type of magical diner that can bring order to chaos. That can bring innovation to breakfast. That can bring flavor to the mundane.

Kicking off the new year right, Bo ordered French toast, “cinnamon per requested,” with BEEF SAUSAGE and eggs over easy.

The brown coffee mug comes to you straight from [insert retro reference here]!

Bo’s French toast (obviously with smuggled real maple syrup smothered atop) was delicious and cinnamon-ey. Nothing unexpected here. Regular bread. Great taste. The eggs, too, were supremely enjoyable. But. The. Beef. Sausage. Savory. Spicy. Soft. Squishy. Possibly the best diner side sausage ever to be tasted! Sausage, sausage, sausage! Aack! When you stop in here, be sure to order the beef sausage as a side. It’s not like any diner sausage you’ve had before. And Dave, in typical savory fashion, ordered the meatloaf with eggs (the server said this was one of her top two meals (Bo’s was the other one – we had both of her meals!). She also said she’s going back to the University of Buffalo after break to continue her pursuit of legal education. Bo and Dave both applauded her educational endeavors).

The meatloaf was crispy on the border, and delightfully tender on the inside. Super consistent with bits of onion throughout. Extremely flavorful, and adding two eggs (sunny side up) made for an interesting flavor combination. The diner did not serve english muffins, so the server expertly suggested a buttered hard roll – great choice! The meal came with a bonus – a double yolk egg!

But which yolk is the evil one…?

Overall, the diner exceeded expectations! Bo and Dave definitely recommend the diner, and it is (thus far) the best breakfast experience of 2019!.

Don’t miss: The onions and peppers with the potatoes.

Don’t miss miss: The beef sausage on the side!
