Scott’s II at the Public Market

“You have chosen wisely” – Lord de Bauvis, seigneur of St. Gobain and Folembray. Castellan de Cambri, Viscount of Savoy… known far and wide as William the Lion, Duke of Brittany.

“You chose wisely” – Dave

On an uneventful and grey morn, the huge King Kong gate at the Public Market beckons to the would-be breakfasters.

Yon grey is not the morning’s eye. Wait, yes it is.

Scott’s II is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the winter, and on Saturdays it even opens at 4 a.m. (see photo of menu, below, which includes the hours).

It’s enclosed. It’s got a space heater with like a fence around it. It warms you (the heater, not the fence. Although, probably the fence is warm, too, and also heats you a little through conduction. Convection? Conduction).

Order a breakfast sandwich. They have other things, but then like, why are you even here? Order a breakfast sandwich. They’ll be ready in less than 12 parsecs. (but srsly, they were ready super fast).

Bo got one with bacon. Dave got one with sausage. The rolls were perfectly hard and warm. The eggs were packed with nourishment. The cheese, melted, gives you a +2 bonus to Constitution for 3 rounds. It makes you forget about the chill grey winter outside. The bacon was tasty and crispy, but the sausage was go-back-again-able. Two little patties came on the sandwich, and they were not-too-chewy, not-too-crumbly. And lo! the sausages had spice. And lo! the spice was good. It lingered on the tongue for the remainder of the morning.

Don’t be deceived by the paltry looking sausage. They say big things come in small packages. That idiom is literally based on these bad boys. They didn’t look like much, but boy they really pack a punch. As avid breakfastreneurs, Bo and Dave are not often duped by breakfast appearance. But this, this was trickery on a whole new level. After eating the sandwich (tasty!) and ordering another to bring back to the lab, it was determined that the flavor quotient of the patties exceeded what was previously thought to be the limit. This means that for every bite that includes sausage, the flavor penetration is over 100% saturation, meaning that subsequent bites without sausage are still packed with flavor. Think of it as short-term flavor banking.

All this to say that unlike Bo, Dave chose super wisely.

We also got home fries with hot sauce. They were the right choice, although the hot sauce was more sweet than hot.

Finally, they had little pound cakes, little pieces of pumpkin pie, and coffee in styrofoam cups.

Two sandwiches, two coffees, home fries, and pound cake all came to about $15.

If the weather is decent, take your coffee to go and take a nice little walk around the market! Just remember to bring your crew:

Easy, Action! With 10 as a must-eat, this eating establishment rates a wisely.

Don’t Miss: The breakfast sandwich with sausage!!

Pro Tip: Pretty sure it’s CASH ONLY. There weren’t signs or anything, but Yelp said so. Don’t worry – there are ATMs scattered about the public market masquerading as red phone booths from England.

Pro Pro Tip: The posted literature may lead you to believe they have chicken every day. They do not. You’ll have to wait til Saturday.
