Chit Chat Cafe

“How’s Maria and the girls”?
“Fine, thanks. OK, let’s cut the Chit ChatYou’re fired.”

The Chit Chat cafe is a quaint little place in the Village of Victor. We visited it as part of our Victor-area-restaurants suite, as well as our quaint-suite.

I’ve worn lots of shoes. I bet if I think about it real hard, I could remember my first pair of shoes.

The best time to visit Chit Chat is when it’s a little grey and rainy out, right when they open, at 7 a.m. It’s cozy and homey inside. Chit Chat belongs in Hobbiton. Or, at least in Frogmorton or Hardbottle.

Baked goods greet you upon entry. Bonjour, baked goods!

Sit anywhere you’d like! And don’t forget to check the coffee specials board over behind the counter.

Although the “Monte Christo” seemed appealing, Bo elected to go with the special bread french toast: Lemon Poppyseed. Real maple syrup weas available BUT! The lemon poppyseed french toast came with its own lemony sauce — the waitress (correctly) recommended foregoing the syrup and focusing solely on the lemon stuff.

It’s all homemade. All of it!

Bo also ordered a “morning glory” muffin, which is basically carrot cake.

Dave got the veggie omelette. With potatoes. But not shred. And cinnamon toast. But not crunch.

Top of the muffin TO YOU!!!

Yes, there was but one slice of french toast. True, true! There’s no getting anything past you, I see. Think about this, though: that slice was so thick that it is essentially several slices in one. When you think about it, it’s like the anti-meltaway pancakes from Food at Fishers Station. They have been stacked atop, and made into one (1) slice. Now they are all one slice. Like a drop in a bucket. There’s no more drop, just water. There’s no more slices, just slice. Like the consciousnesses at the end of “The Last Question.” There’s no more individuals, just a singular consciousness. There’s no more slices, let there be light.

The muffin was good too.

Dave’s omelette was discernibly better than other omelettes. The ensemble was delicious – even the cheese topper was delicious. Even if it was the same cheese that is used in other venues, this cheese included the Chit Chat mojo. But the cinnamon bread? Ohhhhh boy. Nothing will prepare you for the Chit Chat Mojo Homemade Cinnamon Bread. Nothing. And the potatoes? Despite not being shred, still a leg up on the competition.

The chit chat cafe is an above average diner as far as food goes, and an exponentially-above-the-statistical-mean diner as far as quaintness goes. It will charm you. You might say the cafe has a pleasing quality or an irresistible power to please and attract.

With 10 as a must-eat, this eating establishment rates a 9.
